Drawing – Floral Monogram Letter Art
I’ve been neglecting my creative art side, and in order to make up for it I have been semi-drawing here and there. Although it isn’t one of my normal ways of drawing, I decided to try something new. I gave a shot to drawing my own monogram/typography letters. I was a bit hesitant since drawing more realistic things isn’t really my cup of tea and I tend to struggle with it. I will say though, that in my first attempts of doing more ‘nature’ floral artwork has come out quite nicely.
These few drawings below were sent out to some dear friends of mine. I know I’m a bit late at posting updates about these but I have finally had some time to sit down and sort through some of the photos that I’ve been meaning to put up.
I usually start drawing by pencil so that if I do make mistakes I can always erase! I prefer to draw with mechanical pencils because you can get more fine points than a regular number 2 pencil. Once that’s done I finally ink. Personally I prefer leaving my artwork in ink, but sometimes color adds a nice touch, even if it’s just a small hint of color. This first drawing went to a dear friend of mine for her birthday. I forgot what kind of paper was used, but it’s similar to moleskine drawing paper.
These next few were drawn the same way, I used watercolor paper, watercolors and acrylic paint, along with Prisma markers finished off with gold gel pen for the main letters. These were sent to my dear high school friends. I know we’re all off in different tracks of our lives now but I’m happy that no matter where we are and how far apart we all are, we’re still in contact. It’s hard to find those who can still accept you into their lives when it took a while to catch up to where they are in their point of life as well. Thanks~
I hope these brought smiles onto your faces when you opened your mail! I apologize I didn’t get to frame them before I sent them off to you all! I promise next time it’ll be better!
Until the next post.
Much love, xo.
Any support, share, and love, is much appreciated!
